Honestly, yes. A cheap 3D printer is worth it if you go in with your eyes open. The sub-250 machines today are genuinely good, a long way ahead of the Ender 3 I started on, but cheap does not mean zero effort. You will still be levelling beds, chasing a first layer, and swapping the odd worn nozzle. If you just want to learn and print PLA and PETG, spend the 150 to 250 and start printing. Features that were premium five years ago, auto bed levelling, direct drive extruders, heated beds, are now standard on machines that cost less than a decent set of tyres.
